hobart lerner, MD

Hobart Lerner, MD graduated Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1942 and completed his ophthalmology residency at Strong Memorial Hospital. He treated three generations of Rochester families before fully retiring in 2015 after 65 years of practice. Dr. Lerner was honored twice at the AAO Annual Meeting Opening Ceremonies with presentation of the inaugural Outstanding Advocate Award, and as the oldest, practicing, board-certified ophthalmologist in the country. The NYS Ophthalmological Society’s highest honor, The Hobie Award, was established in his honor.
